Class Size & Program
The Montessori Toddler Community, also known as The Young Children’s Community, offers children 18 months –2 ½ years opportunities to explore their own capabilities and to develop independence within a supportive environment. Our Montessori Toddler community provides a nurturing place for young children to begin their “education for life”. The teacher is a Montessori trained professional, certified for the toddler age group, and accomplished in recognizing and nurturing the specific developmental needs of this unique phase. The ratio for this community is 1:5. The classroom team provides the love, patience, warmth, and respect necessary for the toddler to feel safe and thrive within this community. Children attend the Toddler program five days per week.
The Montessori Casa Community consists of a mixed aged group of children 2 ½ – 6 years old. The class has a low teacher-student ratio of 1:8. The class has a French speaking assistant to facilitate a natural second language development. It is the school’s policy that all children in the Casa program attend the program five days per week. Children in their first or second year attend a morning or full day program. In the third year children turning five are required to attend a full day program. We do not accept children into the half day program that are enrolled in another program for half of the day.
Catered lunch is provided for full day and extended half day children. Real Food for Real Kids provides healthy, natural and delicious food for the children. For more information on the catering company please visit www.rfrk.com.
At Odyssey Montessori School we are committed to providing a safe environment for children and staff. We use non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaning products.
The Christie Campus hosts Casa classrooms and Young Children’s Community.
The Casa classrooms are home to children from 2 ½ years to 6 years old. Each classroom has a Montessori Guide and a French-speaking Teaching Assistant. The teacher to student ratio is 1:8.
YOUNG CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY
The Young Children’s Community (YCC) also known as the Toddler Community is carefully prepared for children from 18 months to 2 ½ years old. The classroom includes two Montessori Guides along with their assistant. The teacher to student ratio is 1:5.
