Odyssey Montessori School was established in 2006 by founder Mary Tomazos. It all began with a vision to share her passion and belief about Montessori Education by creating a quality program for children starting their important journey of learning and development.
With exceptional teachers and a commitment to Dr. Maria Montessori’s approach to the child’s development, Odyssey Montessori School offers an accredited Montessori Program at its two locations in Toronto. Our current location has operated for eight years on Sorauren Avenue in the Roncesvalles Village. Our new location opening in September 2014, is on Christie Street, just south of Dupont Avenue.
Odyssey Montessori School is an accredited member of the CCMA (Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators). For more information please visit www.ccma.ca.

Class Size & Program
The Montessori Toddler Community, also known as The Young Children’s Community offers children 18 months –2 ½ years, opportunities to explore their own capabilities and to develop independence within a supportive environment. Our Montessori Toddler community provides a nurturing place for young children to begin their “education for life”. The teacher is a Montessori trained professional, certified for the toddler age group, and accomplished in recognizing and nurturing the specific developmental needs of this unique phase. The ratio for this community is 1:5. The head teacher and two assistants provide the love, patience, warmth, and respect necessary for the toddler to feel safe and thrive within this community. Children attend the Toddler program five days per week.
Our Casa classrooms consist of a mixed aged group of children 2 ½ – 6 years old. Each class has a low teacher-student ratio (1:8). Each class has a French speaking assistant to facilitate a natural second language development.
It is the school’s policy that all children attend the program five days per week. Children in their first or second year attend a morning or full day program. In the third year children turning five are required to attend a full day program. We do not accept children into the half day program that are enrolled in another program for half of the day.
Catered lunch is provided for full day and extended half day children. Real Food for Real Kids provides healthy, natural and delicious food for the children. For more information on the catering company please visit www.rfrk.com.

Parents and teachers have an important role in the child’s education. Each role is distinct and essential in providing experiences and opportunities from which the child can learn. To support the child’s education, foster this relationship between child, family and school, Odyssey Montessori School encourages parent involvement. Numerous opportunities are available for parents to participate in their child’s experience at school. Participation in parent education events, parent-teacher conferences, classroom observations and social gatherings creates an open channel of communication and understanding. This creates a partnership between parents and teachers who work together effectively to support the child’s development.
At Odyssey Montessori School we are committed to providing a safe environment for children and staff. We use non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaning products.
